Delhi Govt 100-Day Report Card: Government Claims Good Intentions, Opposition Calls It a PR Show
The Delhi government is all set to present its 100-day report card today. Ahead of this, both the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) mocked the BJP-led administration for not delivering on pre-election promises. The BJP claims that its policies and intentions are clear and pro-people, and says real work is happening on the ground.
What the Government Says
BJP Delhi President Virendra Sachdeva highlighted the following:
Fast-Paced and Responsible Governance: The Chief Minister is actively inspecting works on the ground. The focus is on solutions, not excuses.
Healthcare: Implementation of the Ayushman Bharat card has boosted confidence among senior citizens. “Arogya Mandirs” have replaced earlier “Mohalla Clinics,” offering better facilities like diagnostics, X-rays, and consultations.
Public Transport and Water: Introduction of 400 new e-buses and GPS-enabled water tankers has improved transparency and curbed black marketing of water.
Waste Management: Issues like landfill management, waterlogging, and drainage are being addressed with greater accountability. Visible improvements expected within a year.
Women’s Welfare: The much-publicized “Mahila Samman Yojana” (Women’s Respect Scheme) is awaiting full implementation due to ongoing system setup.
Yamuna Cleanup: Work has begun on new STPs. Clear differences are promised in Yamuna’s condition within three years.
What the Opposition Says
Congress Leader Devender Yadav called it “100 slogans in 100 days”:
Unfulfilled Promises: Schemes like free gas cylinders and women’s welfare are still not on the ground.
Electricity: Added PPAC charges have made electricity costlier.
Ayushman Bharat: Only a publicity stunt. Most poor don’t qualify, and top Delhi hospitals have opted out.
Transport and Sanitation: 400 buses are insufficient for Delhi’s population. GPS tankers were a Congress-era plan. Garbage piles and staff shortages persist.
Yamuna Cleaning: Just another event. Many STPs are non-compliant. Rain exposes government failures.
AAP Leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said:
High Hopes, Broken Dreams: After 27 years, BJP came to power with big promises. But in 100 days, the poor and middle class are already burdened.
Healthcare & Water: Ayushman Bharat is non-functional, Arogya Mandirs are rebranded Mohalla Clinics with downgraded services.
Public Services: BJP only renamed Kejriwal’s schemes, did not introduce new benefits. Basic services like electricity and water are deteriorating.
Yamuna Cleanup: Only hollow claims. Rainfall and flooding exposed the government’s inefficiency.
Failures: Private school fees have increased, power cuts are frequent, and water supply is disrupted. People who earlier saved money under the AAP regime are now facing hardships.
Summary:
While the BJP government in Delhi is promoting its 100-day achievements as proof of strong intent and policy, opposition parties accuse it of repackaging old schemes and failing to bring meaningful change on the ground.
