Punjab Desk: Cabinet Minister for Education, Information, and Public Relations Punjab, Harjot Singh Bains, has directed officials to work at the ground level in flood-affected areas of his assembly constituency. The instructions include surveying damaged crops, assessing affected houses, repairing roads, and ensuring uninterrupted water and electricity supply.
During a special meeting with officials in Nangal, Mr. Bains said that the water level is continuously decreasing and there has also been a reduction in water release from Bhakhra Dam. The weather is becoming more favorable. The Punjab government has taken a decision to provide compensation for damages suffered by the people and farmers, and immediate action is required. A comprehensive report on all losses must be prepared within the next three days.
Officials and employees from various departments, including Patwari, Panchayat Secretary, Public Works, Water Supply, and Power, are to coordinate with Panchs and Sarpanches and maintain special contact with the youth, who have provided exemplary service in relief and rescue during the floods. Minister Bains emphasized that any relief work that can be done immediately should be started without delay.
He added that he himself will visit the affected areas, and his team will provide full support. Medical teams and veterinary doctors will check the health of people and vaccinate animals to prevent any epidemic.
Mr. Bains instructed that detailed reports of all damages should be sent promptly. He mentioned specific villages in Nangal, including Harsabela, Shiv Singh Bela, Patti Dulchi, Elgran, Sesowal, Patti Tek Singh, Bela Ramgarh, Bela Dargahi, Bhalaan, Bhanam, Bela Dhiani Lower, Bela Dargahi, Bhangla, Mahindpur, Majari, Khera Kalmot, Dabkhera Lower, Kalitran, Daroli, Jindwari, Nangli, and villages in Sri Anandpur Sahib like Dasgarai, Mahain, Khamera, Lodhipur, Lodhipur Bass, Hariwal, Burj, Nikkuwal, Chandpur Bela, Gajpur Bela, Sahpur Bela, Bani, Lammlehr, and Jajjar, where officers must immediately start work to assess damage and provide relief.
Present at the meeting were SDM Nangal Sachin Pathak, SDM Sri Anandpur Sahib Jaspreet Singh, Executive PWD officials, Tehsildar Nangal Jasveer Singh, and officers from various departments.
