Awareness campaign to protect children from pneumonia continues under the “Sans” campaign

Punjab Desk:  Under the leadership of Health Minister Punjab Dr. Balbir Singh, the Health Department is taking various steps to reduce the mortality rate of children up to five years. In this direction, a special awareness campaign called “SANS” is being run under the National Health Mission to protect children from pneumonia, under which parents and caregivers are being informed about the early symptoms of pneumonia.
Senior Medical Officer Dr. Surjit Singh said that under the “SANS” campaign being run in Block Kiratpur Sahib under the slogan “If there is no pneumonia, then childhood is right” under the leadership of District Vaccination Officer Rupnagar Dr. Navroop Kaur, the health department team is making the parents of small children who come to the health center every Wednesday on the occasion of Mamata Diwas aware about the symptoms of pneumonia and its prevention. Apart from this, the team visits slums and kilns from time to time, during which the child’s fever is checked, weight is weighed, respiratory rate and oxygen level are also checked.
Block Extension Educator Ratika Oberoi said that under the “SANS” campaign, the team of Ayushman Arogya Kendra Gajpur led by CHO Poonam visited the slums in the grain market of Kiratpur Sahib and made pregnant women, parents of newborns and their relatives aware that pneumonia is a disease related to the lungs. This disease can cause cough, fever, chills and difficulty in breathing. She advised children to keep their bodies covered and wear warm woolen clothes to protect them from this disease that occurs during the cold season and to get them fully vaccinated.
