Approval Granted for Drinking Water Supply Scheme for Bhagtalha Kalan and Bhagtalha Khurd: MLA Gurditt Singh Sekhon

Punjab Desk: The long-standing drinking water issues in the villages of Bhagtalha Kalan and Bhagtalha Khurd, located in the Faridkot assembly constituency, are set to be resolved soon. MLA Gurditt Singh Sekhon announced that a major water supply project for these villages has been approved by the Punjab Government, keeping in view the basic needs of the local population.

He stated that the project has been launched to ensure clean and consistent drinking water supply to both villages. The scheme will be implemented through joint efforts of NABARD Bank’s Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) and the Punjab Government.

MLA Sekhon shared that the estimated cost of the project is ₹1.06 crore, out of which ₹90.77 lakh will be funded by NABARD, while the remaining ₹16.02 lakh will be provided by the Punjab Government.

As part of the project, a new water supply pipeline will be laid in both villages. Additionally, a new pressure sand filter system will be installed, an inlet channel will be constructed, and renovation work will be carried out on storage tanks, pump chambers, and clean water tanks. These developments aim to improve the quality and continuity of water supply.

MLA Sekhon emphasized that the Punjab Government’s top priority is to strengthen rural infrastructure and improve the quality of life in villages. He added that special focus is being given to drinking water supply so that residents can lead a healthier life.

He assured that the implementation of this scheme will provide much-needed relief to the residents of Bhagtalha Kalan and Bhagtalha Khurd, ending their struggle for potable water. He further said that the Punjab Government is committed to public welfare and inclusive development of the state and that more such developmental schemes will be introduced for both rural and urban areas in the future.
