Punjab Desk: District Magistrate Tarn Taran Mr. Rahul, IAS. has issued an order and has fixed Gandhi Park as the place for dharna/protests in Tarn Taran city. Dharna/protest can be held at this place only after taking prior permission from Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) 24 hours in advance and without this, dharna/protest cannot be held at any other place in the city.

District Magistrate Mr. Rahul said that in view of the by-election of Assembly Constituency 021-Tarn Taran, the election code of conduct has been imposed in the entire district of Tarn Taran. Mr. Rahul said that it has come to his notice that since the last few days, various organizations, groups and individuals etc. have been holding demonstrations, protests, sit-ins and hunger strikes etc. at the residences, roads, places etc. of various parties and independent candidates of Assembly Constituency Tarn Taran-21. Such demonstrations or protests affect the common people, traffic etc. and there it is also a violation of the instructions of the Election Commission of India.

The District Magistrate said that in view of the above situation, keeping in mind the difficulties of the common people and the maintenance of law and order, a place has been fixed for various organizations, associations, etc. to hold peaceful demonstrations, protests, etc. at Post Office, Tarn Taran near Gandhi Park. Therefore, if any kind of peaceful demonstration, protest is to be held by any organization, association, individual, etc., then they will ensure to obtain prior approval from the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Tarn Taran, 24 hours in advance. He said that the Superintendent of Police (D) Tarn Taran will ensure strict compliance of these orders for the restoration of law and order so that the common people and candidates participating in the elections do not face any problem.
