Krishi Vigyan Kendra organizes

Punjab Desk:  PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur organized an awareness camp on stubble management at Government Senior Secondary Smart School Sansarpur Makkowal, Block Dasuha, Hoshiarpur in collaboration with PAU-Farm Advisory Service Center, Gangian.
At the beginning of the program, Rajesh Kumar, Principal of Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Sansarpur Makkowal, welcomed the visiting experts and assured full support for the awareness campaign for paddy straw management.
Addressing the students, Dr. Maninder Singh Bance, Associate Director (Training) of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur, gave detailed information about the need for managing paddy stubble and various techniques. He also explained in detail about the damage caused by burning stubble and the importance of various elements present in stubble. Dr. Bance informed the students about the machinery related to paddy stubble management and also shared information about the use of paddy stubble in biogas plants, energy, mushroom production and animal feed. He also mobilized the students to take this noble message of managing stubble to every home.
On this occasion, Krishi Vigyan Kendra also organized speech, essay writing and painting competitions to create awareness among the students about the harm caused by burning stubble. Students participated enthusiastically in all the competitions. The students who won the first, second and third prizes in these competitions were – Anjali of class 10, Palvika of class 10 and Harshdeep of class 9 in the speech competition, Palvika of class 10, Simran of class 10+2 and jointly Mehak of class 10+2 and Abhinav of class 9 in the painting competition and Nandini of class 10, Navdeep of class 10+1 and Palak of class 10 in the essay writing competition. The winners of various competitions were also honored by the guests to encourage them.
Various competitions were held under the supervision of Dr. B.S. Jat, scientist of Indian Maize Research Institute, Ludhiana, Dr. Indira Devi, District Extension Scientist (Fruit Science) from Farm Advisory Service Center, Gangian, Sunita, Program Assistant (Lab Technician) of Krishi Vigyan Kendra and staff of Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Sansarpur Makkowal – Vice Principal Varinder Kumar, Head, Lecturer (English) Kashmir Singh, Lecturer (Political Science) Jatinderpal Sharma, Lecturer (Commerce) Baljit Singh and Baljinderpal Singh and Primary Teacher Jaspal Singh.
At the end of the program, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, District Extension Scientist (Entomology) of Farm Advisory Service Center, Gangian, thanked the school administration for organizing this camp and also appreciated the students for their full participation in this entire program.
