District Education Officer Encourages Young Athletes

Punjab Desk: Under the leadership of District Education Officer (Secondary Education) Sunitinder Singh and Deputy District Education Officer (Secondary Education) Dr. Barjinderpal Singh, the second phase of the 69th Summer Punjab State District-Level School Games began today across various schools in the district.
At Baba Gandha Singh School, Barnala, the District Education Officer (Secondary Education), Sunitinder Singh, inaugurated the girls’ basketball competitions. He encouraged the athletes, saying that sports can help steer the younger generation away from harmful habits such as substance abuse. He motivated the players to compete with true spirit and dedication.
In the competitions held on the first day:
Under-14 Girls Basketball:
BGSS Barnala defeated SSS Mouran
BGSS Bhadour defeated Sant Bachanpuri School Pakhokla
YS Handia defeated Sarvottam Academy Khuddi Kalan
ZIPS Bhadour defeated Broadway School Manal
All four teams advanced to the semifinals.
Under-17 Girls Basketball:
ZIPS Bhadour defeated Broadway School Manal
Mata Gujri School Dhanola defeated Sant Longpuri School Pakhokla
Sarvottam Academy Khuddi Kalan defeated YS Handia
BGSS Barnala defeated SSS Mouran
These teams secured their places in the semifinals.
Under-19 Semifinals:
Sant Baba Longpuri School Pakhokla vs. SSS Mouran
SSS Handia vs. BGSS Bhadour
The event was attended by Principals Sandeep Kumar Lath, DM Sports Barnala Simardeep Singh Sidhu, Rajinder Singh, basketball coaches Upjeet Singh, Karanel Singh, Harvinder Singh, Tejinder Singh, Rajinder Singh, Malkeet Singh Bhullar, Satveer Singh, coach Gurvinder Singh, Harjit Singh, Gurlal Singh, Inderjeet Singh, Lakhveer Singh, Raju, Harjit Singh Joga, along with physical education teachers from various schools.
